  • Parents get new sex crime checks. I have no confidence that the so-called tight controls will mean anything and the abuse of such information or even the idea of its availability will be misused by those who falsely claim to "know" something.
  • Parents to see sex crime records. Eight months ago the Home Office announced this similar initiative. The parameters for disclosing such information as noted in this article is fuzzy and apparently open to discretion about what "contact" with a child means.
  • How best to deal with paedophiles?. The great problem today is that false allegations are used by child abuses to smokescreen their own abuse and young people make these false allegations against those who document and report their antisocial or criminal behaviour. This balloons the problem in an indiscriminate manner.
  • Police to focus on violent crimes. The failure of the police and others in authority have created this problem so that the police now are being directed to emphasise violent crimes. If they had focused on the earlier antisocial problems, the ensuing violent crimes would have been significantly mitigated.
  • Search for hospital escape rapist. Known sex offenders can't even be kept in custody properly while the Home Office moves for votes in the community by seeking to release paedophile information which will leak all over the community despite what is said. This is the second time this extremely dangerous sex offender has escaped from hospital.
  • The Last Enemy's first episode was not so bad, but it had key elements in common with Humphrey Hawksley's The History Book. Read Erich Neumann's Art and the Creative Unconscious, Bollingen Series LXI, Princeton University Press, 1959.

1. Parents get new sex crime checks. Is the Home Office announcing the same thing that was announced eight months ago? Given the abuses which exist that I have personally witnessed I have no confidence that the government will be able to tightly control it.

Parents get new sex crime checks

Parents may get new powers to check if people with access to their children have paedophile convictions.

The scheme could be rolled out across England and Wales if trials are successful but the Home Office says information will be tightly controlled.

It will allow single mothers to ask police whether potential boyfriends have child sex convictions.

Campaigner Sara Payne said the scheme was a step in the right direction but she still wants full disclosure.

Family members or neighbours who regularly look after children could also be checked under the new proposals.

Trials will take place in Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, Cleveland and Warwickshire.

The murder of Sarah Payne in 2000 prompted calls for new laws

Parents will get the right to ask for details about people who are in regular contact with their children, following a review of information on paedophiles.

However, the Home Office proposals stop short of a "Sarah's Law", which would make information more widely available.

The review of the way details about convicted sex offenders are handled is set to be unveiled on Wednesday.

Sara Payne, whose daughter Sarah was murdered by a paedophile in 2000, said the move was a "massive step forward".

She said: "If you have a child or look after a child you have a place you can go and have some access (to details about paedophiles).

"You don't have full access but you have some access."

3. How best to deal with paedophiles?. The real question is how to deal with those who exploit this stigma against innocent people who report the misconduct and antisocial behaviour of young people and abusive adults?

The quick trigger attack by these bullies is to call the person who reports their behaviour a paedophile. This creates a serious problem for trying to identify and provide help to those who really need it and diverts attention from the real problem by these people who create a false allegation for their own smokescreen purposes. It's tantamount to allowing serious offenders and threats to go unchecked by knowingly faking allegations against the innocent for perverse and brutal reasons.

In my experience those whom I reported for child abuse are making every effort to label me as a paedophile along with a whole list of false allegations and false negative characteristics when there is nothing whatsoever in any way to support any of these false allegations. The young antisocial types also make this false allegation out of the blue without any knowledge whatsoever about me for filming their antisocial behaviour to assist those in authority to bring it to a stop.

Because the youths engaged in antisocial behaviour make this allegation without any knowledge and on film they reveal that it is just a verbal abuse attacked intended to divert attention from and smokescreen their antisocial behaviour. Thus, the bully of every kind seeks to bully in every way.

This is what occurs when those who engage in vigilante behaviour use this false allegation as a means to attack someone for reasons of their own as I've just described and is the real problem with regard to releasing this information about convicted paedophiles to anyone. It cannot be controlled and will spread along with false claims about information that is false and nonexistent.

People will abuse the possibility of knowing by falsely claiming that they have been given privileged information when they haven't a clue. There are those who seek to find any pretext to attack and hide their own criminal and antisocial behaviour be they young or old. These are the people who are the source of the problem that makes it very difficult to identify and treat those who are really a threat to children. They intentionally muddy the waters to protect themselves with false allegations against others who report them. I have videos of this being done.

How best to deal with paedophiles?

A young girl facing a window
Many child sex crimes are committed by first time offenders

The Home Office has announced new measures for dealing with sex offenders, which include offering more drug treatments to prevent further offences.

The treatment involves voluntary ingestion of libido-reducing drugs or anti-depressants, and the measures also include parents being able to ask for checks on whether people in close contact with their children are known sex offenders.

One expert, Dr Donald Findlater, from child protection charity the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, believes medical treatments are only part of the package needed to tackle paedophilia.

"The problem is there's no single solution because there's no single problem.

"Some people need treatment such as biological or chemical measures to support psychological treatment.

"These medical treatments are going to have to be piloted alongside other measures to monitor and control behaviour, such as lie detector tests, for example."

Schoolchildren may have to pass through metal detectors

Police in England and Wales are to have targets on minor offences relaxed to allow them to focus on combating violent crime, it is understood.

Jacqui Smith is to unveil the Tackling Violence Action Plan on Monday.

The government plan will include hundreds of metal-detecting arches and search wands for communities, aimed at combating the carrying of knives.

The plan will also focus on alcohol use, which is a factor in almost half of all violent incidents.

A £1m awareness campaign will seek to convince young people that carrying a knife actually increases their risk of being a victim of violence.

Ms Smith will announce new resources for hundreds of metal-detecting arches and search wands for local communities.

The equipment is thought to be portable enough to go in the back of a police car and be taken to pubs, clubs, schools.

Knives were linked to 258 deaths in 2006-7 compared with 219 the previous year.

A convicted rapist who escaped from a London hospital is still at large, police have said.

Terrence O'Keefe, 39, who is serving a life sentence for rape offences, fled while visiting King's College Hospital.

O'Keefe previously went missing from the same hospital in 2005 and fled to Liverpool where he has connections.

He had been taken from a secure unit at Lambeth Hospital to King's College for treatment. Police said he was dangerous and should not be approached.

South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, which runs Lambeth, said O'Keefe had been escorted at all times.

6. The Last Enemy's first episode. Tonight's hour and a half of the five and a half hour production was not half bad, but its all too familiar plot has points in common with Humphrey Hawksley's The History Book. Instead of sisters, there are brothers this time with one of them a brilliant mathematician who was being coerced into government/corporate power and control machinations while the other was killed (as of the beginning). The T.I.A. for power and control is being sold as the answer to protection from terrorism just like Project Peace in The History Book.

The machinations of the corporation and government with its interlocking connection between ministers and corporate decision makers is familiar in each of these two works along with the security services of some kind operating in the background on behalf of the government/corporate entity in a confusing balance of loyalties and actions which are quite clear at the start in The Last Enemy.

That keeps us around for the remaining episodes (four) on Sunday evenings at 2100. I'll be there and recommend that you do as well if you are interested in the fictionalisation of current reality in terms of psychological disposition to power, control and the furtherance of these on behalf of those at the top at the expense of those under them all they way to the bottom. The contrasts between London and Afghanistan are quite thought provoking especially with the apparent disregard to life of those who are deemed "problems" of some sort.

I also note at the end that this is a Box production in conjunction with the BBC and the US Public Broadcasting System's (PBS) Boston TV channel WGBH. Perhaps, this is currently being broadcast in the US at the same time on PBS nationwide. If not, keep looking for it to appear.

I have no reason whatsoever to believe that Peter Berry and Humphrey Hawksley have in any way somehow exchanged information resulting in the similarities between these two creations. Peter Berry's manuscript was finished and submitted just before the terrorist attacks in July 2005 as he described in his own comments on The Last Enemy. There is a link to these comments in yesterday's web journal entry.

I prefer to accept that Collective Unconscious was at work here with these two writers creating a work of art from the same environmental background which could easily lead to similarities in character creation, relationships and power and control machinations. The magnificent film Three Colours Blue is an example where Krzysztof Kieslowski deals with the background idea that two people completely removed from each other can create an identical piece of music.

I accept this as entirely possible since there is far more than we consciously understand and "know" about the communication which takes place unconsciously or the general awareness we all share unconsciously. In fact, by definition we cannot "know" what is unconscious, but we have evidence of similarities in works of art separated by time and place. The great contribution that Freud made was that the unconscious is the rule not the exception. Almost all of our lives take place in the unconscious mind with very little of it taking place consciously, but it's the conscious that we know and come to accept as everything when it is quite insignificant and basically nothing.

I believe it was Alice Miller who made that comment that Freud great contribution to the thought and knowledge foundation of the human race is that man is not master of his castle (himself). The other two giants in history are Darwin and Copernicus/Galileo. The latter two showed that the earth is not the centre of the universe, and Darwin showed that the human animal is just that descended from the primordial soup. In the historical progression from a centric point of view these have been dispelled in stages.

I have no problem in accepting that two independent people could create parallel stories quite independent of each other and believe that such is the situation between The History Book which came out last August and The Last Enemy which came out just now but was finished ready for submission before July 2005. If I have a problem with these two works, it has to do with the imaginative input and the creation of a world where those who seek absolute power and control at whatever level lack the elements of creative imagination which existed 40 years ago in the 1960s.

In the 1960s Len Deighton's The Ipcress File was a stunning imaginative creation about mind interference and control involving a physicist and a spy who were subjected to this process along with deceit and betrayal between those in the security service. The Avengers knew no restraint with respect to imaginative creation about what those with bent motivations and objectives would create or manufacture. It was a fantasy take on the potential of science and control. Today The Avengers seems far more prophetic and chillingly accurate about its creations than it did in the 1960s as a fantasy romp of great delight and style.

That flair has disappeared today in the creative works surrounding these elements of demented behaviour as it relates to power and control while we approach the realities that were dealt with in The Ipcress File, The Avengers and other creations like The Mancurian Candidate. Look at the sense of freedom that existed 40 years ago to create and speculate about the ultimate developments from science which could be used to control and maintain power.

Today that technology exists which was just a speculation 40 years ago, but no one will touch it as a reality for a work of fiction involving what is actually being done in the government and corporate power and control activities. Why is this? I've been lucky. Some people have given me years of experience so that I know and understand the reality of how power and control is developing in perverse ways today. No one has even begun to deal with it.

So far those who are creating fictionalised versions of this control and power problem are only dealing with the issues which are essentially a sideline: databases, ID cards, known surveillance and conventional means of physical coercion including fear, torture and death. This creates drama but does not dramatise the real threat which exists today from neuroscience that is actually in use. Self censorship out of fear, commercial reasons or the need to achieve the largest markets seem to be in operation rather than the creative imagination without limits.

Did George Orwell limit himself when he wrote 1984 which first came out in 1949? He had two-way television where Winston had to find black spots in order to hide. Now there is the ubiquitous surveillance camera used in works of fictional speculation, but no two-way television and certainly no brainwave monitoring surveillance which is totally invasive and from which there is no black spots where one can hide.

Brainwave, computer or any electronic equipment including the human body monitoring and feedback by means of electromagnetic radiation interception and decoding does not exist yet in any work of imaginative drama. Will it ever? Do I have to do it? There are so many others who are much better at it than I. This idea is free. Make it part of the Collective Unconscious. Archetypes are changing if you haven't notice.

Read Erich Neumann's Art and the Creative Unconscious, Bollingen Series LXI, Princeton University Press, 1959, where "it aims at an understanding of art as a psychological phenomenon of central importance to the collectivity as well as the individual" (p 81: the beginning of his essay Art and Time). Run with this idea using your imagination to its fullest capacity. Let your unconscious be. Reinvent Steed and Mrs Peel, Harry Palmer, George Smiley or whoever in today's neuroscience technology actually being used for surveillance. This has so far been skipped.

I feel sorry for those who are reading other people's minds. They must be living a miserable life. Who would want to know what other people think except the demented sadist who seeks power an control over one living being?
