                into bedroom for clean underwear but none available (must do laundry); crouched back into living room for underwear and back to bathroom to put on trousers; forgot to get elec and went back into small room; door noise in Walkway just as I entered; light switch on and off noise again; back out into hall; looked thru peephole to see a woman coming downstairs (this is the one that leaves at 0500 every day (at least in the summer)); crouched back into the living room;

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 05:15:58    Crouched into the kitchen for grapefruit and oatmeal; knocked scrub brush from side of sink into it with the new bag of oatmeal (made a noise); one cup of noiseless hot water into the oatmeal pot; brought to boil and set aside (putting lid on pot made a couple small noises) while cutting grapefruit; got full bottle of cold water from fridge and put away stuff; crouched back into the living room;

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 06:33:49    Into the bathroom for a bath; topped up the tub with hot water; initial bubbling sound from clearing hose and hot water tank refilling; sound of door and bar/grate clanking; settled in to soak and relax; sound of sliding window open then closed with a ten or so minute gap between sounds; probably next door kitchen window; voices talking (male and female); thought it might be the TV but I never hear it there; must have been a couple people talking below;

                washed hair, shaved and washed; as I was standing up to wash the sound of the door below occurred followed by the dog barking; it kept on barking and barking; whoever was below must have gone out leaving it alone causing it to bark (unless it was already alone and barked at someone else departing); finished bath and left;

                crouched into the kitchen to wash underwear; filled bucket with noiseless hot water, soap and thin bleach; filled water bottle with cold water that made not a sound in the wall and put in fridge; crouched back into the living room;

                crouched into the bathroom to brush my drying hair; crouched back into the living room;

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 16:05:04    That was a very, hard thud in the kitchen area; again came as I was laying my head back in the chair with my eyes closed; sounded like it came from below but might have been above; I believe it was most definitely an attempt to disturb my rest, prevent me from sleeping and possibly cause me to make a noise by trying to talk in my sleep resulting from an instantaneous nightmare formed around the dream.

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 16:20:15    Three very loud hits in a row; the first two sounded from down below; the last one was the sound of lumber being dropped on the balcony; I was having a dream but when the third lumber falling sound it the ground; at first I thought it was on the balcony out front; but when it sounded again, it came in clearly from under the kitchen window; this shows how quickly after falling asleep I can start dreaming when disturbed;

Dozed and left alone this time; on two different occasions during the above, I thought that I heard a female voice talk from the balcony below as if to someone outside (or above?).

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 23:13:42    Hard loud door slam in Walkway; think it is from below; before this there was a noise of feet thumping to the front above and the sound of a sliding window shutting with its thud as it closed.

Mon, 21 Jun 1999 - 23:40:18    Talking loudly again outside; male and female; he’s doing most of the loud talking; she was saying a couple things; they must be going around and around to finally wake me and cause a noise form a nightmare induced attempt to talk in my sleep.

Tue, 22 Jun 1999 - 02:51:49    Awake after a dream; no noises; cannot remember the dream but it was spectacular; not sure if I was awaken after finally going to sleep; do  remember one more noise from above but just ignored it and went on to sleep after being gotten up several times by the circling voices whoever was trying to wake me but only succeeded in getting me up to write it down; I do not think that I was awakened again and did not make any noises.  It is very quiet now and no reaction at all to my sitting up; no traffic; did they get what they wanted?

    Put notebook in briefcase and it in hall with carry all; got shirt from bookcase; as I unlocked door, there was a faint but distinct “woooo” sound made twice; no doubt this was from the guys above I believe;

0715    Out of door and locked it behind me; I ran into no one on my way out past the rubbish bine and down the middle stairs facing back this way; saw no one anywhere either all was quiet; believe the “woooo” came from above as I was unlocking the door but no other sound or sighting of anyone made me even more certain that whoever came from above must have stood there watching me leave from below although I heard no door noises above;  

    out the Bramley doors (tried next door as it look open; no it was locked) and around corner up the path by Gren Twr to Silchester Rd to Lancaster Rd and Lad Gro; up to Elgin Crescent (passed Elgin Books) to Portobello Rd and the Colvilles to West Gro; all the down to Queensway; walked all along it looking for 4p copy sign but none; turned left off it at the street with the “no browsing” Spy Shop in it; walked back up parallel to Queensway on the next street east to the normal corner (with telephones); two rights and back down to the small street over to the Cravens; up them to Praed St but the shop with 5p copies near the hospital was completely closed and being renovated; turned and walked back down that street to Sussex Gdns; right to Lancaster Gate and into the park;

0825    Arrived Lancaster Gate fountains; went to a bench on the east side near the Serpentine and watched the ducks for about 25 mins; left and walked the diagonal path to the Round Pond passing it and around Ken Palace to the main path leading to its “formal” gates sitting on bench in shade;

0900    Arrived Ken Palace; sat here for about ten minutes watching the dogs play

0910    Left Ken Palace and walked straight out and through to Ken Church St; across it and past the Elephant and Castle pub on to the Town Hall and the library

0920    Arrived library; waited by its door for ten minutes to open and then went in to the computer books getting two on C++ and one on Java;

0945    Left library; walked down Ken Hi St to post office just past Earl’s Ct Rd; no brochure on rates; left and walked on down toward Olympia remembering the post office behind it; turned at the start of Olympia to walk past the Grand Hall and around the corner by the tube station to the post office just past the Firkin pub;

    Copied the discharge certificate (0.05 Copy); US air mail for the posting would have been 0.99 with surface 0.56; used two 1st class stamps I had and bought a 4p stamp (0.04 Post); organised the Cold War Cert mailing and posted it out front of this PO.  

1015    Left Olympia PO and walked out to Hammersmith Road on down to Hammersmith and the Kings Mall; went into WH Smith to look at computer mags; no PCW or .net that I wanted; maybe I missed them for July (hope not); out and up the escalator but saw a new computer store on the other side of the restaurant tables; went back down the escalator and over to the Time store to browse; guy said it had been there about a month; I had not seen it until now; left again going up the escalator and stopped at the gents near the parking lot elevators to brush my hair and get my UB40 out; down elevator and out back to the Hamm ESJ.  

1055    Arrived Hamm ESJ to sign on; there was a queue with only three people taking sign-ons (one at one end and two at the other nearest the head of the queue); got the bushing headed thin white guy; asked about job search and explained new possibilities; noted time on weekends due to 0800; “send more out?” he asked; “no, more for research” I replied  that gets me new things and opportunities I had not thought about as it did this week (Emory and Columbia but it was not specific); the mere sending out of info is not time consuming; searching for opportunities and using the net as a resource is; he went through my booklet noting that I had sent them something; “no,” I explained, “I had just brought that along to my recent interview to show them the status of age discrimination.”  We went on to discuss age discrimination and the fact that it is not illegally here allowing it to flourish; anyone over 40 is unemployable; the law would encourage employers to do a proper job and not just dismiss people for their age I went on to explain; he ask me were I was from; I told him I was born in the US; he then noted that a Canadian said that if he went back to Canada he would get a job immediately; yes I nodded in agreement, that is the case when age discrimination is illegal because employers seriously consider all applicants and find suitable candidates everywhere.  I further explained what had just happened a means to get the older worker back to work by advocating a “boycott” of organisations who discriminate against the older worker which was led by big business and the Government (did not think much of it and told him so).  I was not happy about his question about where I was from (that has discriminatory implications too) nor his example that if someone had gone back to Canada he would be employed immediately; that would imply I should leave and return to North America.  

1110    Left Hamm ESJ and walked home via the short route; thru Tusseley underpass and out to Shep Bush Road; crossed it; past the pub on the corner and diagonalled up to Rockway Rd to Shep Bush Green; up to the large crossing point at the shopping mall entrance; crossed and went up to the subway to Ed Woods Est passing the bearded guy in the subway; he muttered something when he saw me; he is always impolite and muttering something when I run into him; thru Ed Woods to Freston Rd; out to Bramley and the doors to the Walkway; no familiar vehicles on Whitchurch Rd as I passed it; up the just washed stairs at the Bramley doors end and down the Walkway; someone came down the middle stairs facing toward this end as I was walking up behind them never saw who it was until I was at the front door when there was a young woman with dark hair going down that path; as I climbed the stairs by the front door, a woman came out of a flat door directly opposite but high up just as I turned to walk past 521's door toward my own; there was a black guy holding a clipboard and a pen knocking on the door to 506 as I unlocked my door and went in; as I was locking it from the inside, either him or someone who had answered made a very strange “illiterate” sound; when I looked out the peephole there was no one there (do not know if he went in or departed); the kitchen window next door was open with the curtain blowing out but I saw nor heard anyone there; did not know the bar/grate door below;

1150    Home. No post; locked door; crouched into the living room hanging up jacket on book shelf and putting briefcase on the chair; crouched on into the kitchen to fix lunch; got stuff from fridge; filled glass with cold water (it made not a sound in the water pipes in the wall); two measured cups of noiseless hot water into the brown rice and red lentil pot; sliced chilli pepper, ginger, garlic; curry powder; sliced onion (rinsed it and plate with noiseless hot water), potato, carrot, courgette; brought to boil and turned down to simmer; put stuff away and crouched back into the living room;

1210    Simmer. Back to chair; reconnected and rebooted notebook; reactivated system;

Tue, 22 Jun 1999 - 12:22:34    Crouched to the hall to get carry all; voices outside erupted and faintly said “there he is”; of course I was bending over and could not been see from outside and was opening the door at the time so way in the back of the living and clearly out of sight; got the carryall; at the same time there had been a furn scrape above; put carry all in books in living room; crouching over and remained that way while emptying its contents on the bed; put the carry all away; crouched back into the hall and bathroom with the hairbrush when a tremendously heavy, hard object was dropped on the floor directly above me in the hall; this was obviously intended for me to harass, disturb, disrupt and distress by terrorising me and letting me know they are there as if I had not already known that; sounded as if it had been made in anger at me for not standing up and letting those outside “claim” they saw me;

                crouched back to the kitchen to get my sweat trousers from the laundry bucket; crouched back to the hall and bedroom to change clothes; crouched back into the living room putting the 3 books, tape & stapler, folder and Time catalogue on the chair in two trips before sitting down.
