1. A Film about the Cuban Missile Crisis Tonight on BBC1. Thirteen Days, Tuesday 08 January, 11:05pm - 1:20am (GMT), BBC1 London & South East: The Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK misled the American people as did the US military about Vietnam. The process of deceit for power and control has mushroomed out of control during the last four decades to the point now where the ignorant and bigoted are dominating and controlling the community from the abusive use of surveillance technology as I've been experiencing for almost a decade.

In October 1962 I was doing final analysis and reporting at USAF Security Service (USAFSS) Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Although my communications intelligence (Comint) analysis and final reporting work had nothing to do with the Cuban Missile crisis, a guy sitting next to me went to Key West to fly surveillance missions against Cuba. He was a Spanish linguist having grown up speaking two languages.

It was an incredible experience living under the danger of a possible nuclear threat from Cuban missiles 90 miles south of Key West, Florida, especially as the intensity of the crisis developed, and we found ourselves on Defence Condition (DefCon) 3 throwing everything disposable into top secret burn bags just in case. We were distracted to say the least. After it was over, our associate came back and told us as much of his stories as he could.

This was the peak of the Cold War with the Berlin wall having gone up in August 1961 a year earlier and JFK assassinated a year later in November 1963. I had joined the USAF in June 1961 to fulfil my national service obligation and found my self being trained for six months in San Angelo, Texas, for communications intelligence analysis which was called radio intercept analysis.

After servicing 18 months at Headquarters USAFSS from March 1962 to October 1963, I was sent to Trabzon, Turkey, an NSA/USAFSS intercept site 90 miles from the Soviet Union on the Black Sea at the beginning of November 1963. Three weeks later President Kennedy was assassinated.

While I was there until the end of October 1964, I met some terrific people who became friends. They were working under NATO contract in Rize, Turkey, some 45 miles further east of Trabzon toward the Soviet Union. We spent a lot of time together in Trabzon or in Rize. These were guys from England, Dublin and Paris working for Hawker Siddley and Marconi on the radar site in Rize, Turkey. They were retraining the Turkish missile men into radar after JFK pulled the US missiles out of Turkey as part of the Cuban Missile Crisis deal with the Khrushchev.

This was completely unknown to the American people and had been hidden by Kennedy's administration. I'll never understand why. I had not known that this pull out of US missiles from Turkey had occurred. When I was talking with one of these guys, he mentioned that they were retraining these missilemen because they no longer had a job. When I mentioned the fact that JFK had pulled out the missiles as a result of the Cuban Missile Crisis deal, I went blank. He picked this up and asked "Didn't you know that?" referring to the missile pull out. I shook my head and said "No."

At that time I did not think anything more about it. I had not known this and just assumed that I had missed something. I never thought about it again for about 20 years. In the mid-1980s I happened to mention this retraining activity to a journalist in some correspondence. I thought this was just one of those things which had been done and was no big deal. It appeared to me as a logical swap. During the next month or so, there was a lot of comment in the US press about the fact that JFK had pulled out the US missiles from Turkey and had not told the American public.

Wow! This then took on a different colour to say the lease. It struck me as a need by JFK to appear macho to the American public by lying about what happened with respect to the pull out of Turkish missiles in a quid pro quo swap with the Soviet Union that ended the Cuban Missile Crisis. This was quite serious and becomes more serious as the tales of fakery emerge repeatedly from places like Iraq and the the activities of US government agents which reflect the need to fake it and create an image of bravado rather than tell the truth and let things appear as they really are.

JFK really revealed to me by this omission that he was a supreme manipulator of image and the media which went on, as far as I know, for two decades in this instance. It raises questions in my mind about PT109. Robert Caro had already torn apart JFK's vice president's (Lyndon Baines Johnson) war stories which were pathetically complete fabrication in his multivolume biography of LBJ. It seems politicians with the power to get away with faking it do it at the very top. This then trickles down through government and especially the military as the standard to fake it for image instead of telling it like it is.

If anything would destroy the credibility of anyone in public office it would be this gigantic lie by JFK about the real reason the Soviet Union agreed to pull out the US missiles for Turkey in October 1962. It took Neil Sheehan something like 17 years to write his National Book Award winning chronicle of the Vietnam war called "A Bright Shining Lie." The foundation upon which the US involvement was based in Vietnam was a fabrication regarding a battle which occurred in early 1963 only a couple months after the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It's not just that JFK wanted to create a macho image for the US and US military intervention with respect to the Cuban Missile Crisis, but the US military evidently had at this point in time a fundamental need to fake it to go on and do what those in key decision making positions wanted to do in Vietnam. The Battle of Ap Bac in Vietnam on 2nd January 1963 was the turning point where the truth about this disastrous battle was buried. The South Vietnamese troops (ARVN) could not be depended upon, but this was not officially acknowledged.

This brings to mind more recent events involving Derek Bond of the UK, a pilot in the UK and Jessica Lynch. Derek Bond was put into prison on South Africa while visting the country in the instigation of the FBI. Thanks to press coverage he was released in about two weeks, and the FBI admitted a case of mistaken identity when they arrest the man they were after in the US. There was a pilot held in the a prison in Yorkshire in the UK for six months at the request of the US agents who promised evidence when court proceedings were scheduled to resume. They did not have the evidence after this pilot had spend six months in prison.

Finally, we all know the story surrounding the fabrication of events relating to Jessica Lynch when she was captured in Iraq and held in a hospital. The dramatic rescue effort was a fake, and she told the store like it was. This revealed the need of the US military types to continuously manufacture information for their own glory and power.

Looking back over the past four decades with these critically important efforts to fake it highlights for me the need to make certain each and every representation is backed with solid evidence. People have come to learn that faking it is all right if you can get away with it. This has led to disastrous consequences like Vietnam and Iraq where Weapons of Mass Destruction (MD) were used as the foundation for invading that country. No MD were ever found. It's the Ap Bac syndrome all over again.

I've been witnessing directly the efforts of Lt Harry Bird, Colonel Vine and others fake everything they could with respect to carrying out surveillance technology abuse against me for many years. I used to work in intelligence as described above, and every effort was made to get it right. The great problem is that those who have no ability or talent want to make it by faking it, and they cause havoc and catastrophe by doing so. I've been the victim of this mentality which has been allowed to persist for nine years and almost five months since mid-August 1998. It doesn't say very much for real values and standards in western democracies when this happens.

If you can, watch this 2000 film tonight on BBC One to see if the story is told accurately. I think by this time it is. There is also a BBC documentary about the Cuban Missile Crisis which makes the key point that the withdrawal of US Turkish missiles was the key element to the agreement by the Soviets to withdraw their missiles from Cuba. Or, as JFK would say "Cuber."

Everybody gets to where their going professionally by faking it. When it comes to getting the job done, they cannot function. The result is ultimately a collapse or a "dysfunctional" Home Office that is "unfit for purpose." I've been experiencing the worst of that faking it since mid-August 1998. There are a lot of ignorant, no-hopers who feel they have to fake it in order to make it. I'm waiting for the government to collapse. The Home Office, Police and NHS are among many who are faking it in order to make it. These people haven't a clue about how to do a proper job. It's just a question of time before the collapse occurs just like Enron.
