1. What I found to be the most startling about this Hardtalk interview with the wife of Alexander Litvinenko was the disbelief that hospital staff exhibited when advised to check for poisoning. This bit of the interview was aired earlier on BBC News24, and I found it to be the most fascinating that people will not listen to the victim/patient and will not accept anything that is out of their own experience. This is, of course, my problem in trying to communicate my experience with the state-of-the-art surveillance technology that has been used against me for years. No one wants to believe that my

The points made by Marina Litvinenko and Alex Goldfarb, a close friend of Alexander Litvinenko, noted that it was more than three weeks before the poisoning was taken seriously and the polonium 210 determined as the its source. This only occurred because he remained alive for so long. Had he died in a couple weeks, the source of the poisoning would have gone undetected. It took a special detection device to determine this particular radioactive poison.

And, it was pointed out that the only source would be a government source. Since this left such a large trail of radioactivity all over including many locations in London, aircraft to and from Moscow and in Moscow as determined by an extensive police investigation, it appears as if the source came from Russia rather than MI6 as has been alleged by suspect whom the UK seeks to extradite from Moscow.

Six months after Litvinenko's agonising death by radiation poisoning the chances of a trial are looking slim. Stephen Sackur talks to his widow, Marina and his close friend, Alex Goldfarb.
