Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
The rubbish was strewn
All fit for a louse
The children were snuggled
All deep in their beds
Secure in the knowledge
All would come to their heads
Tenant management they cared not
Papering the files for means to stay
Masters of excuses they did create
No residents they but secure in their pay
1. I am adding these photos on 6th January 2007 which I took on this date following that day's web journal entry about this same subject against the background of the news reports concerning rat infestation throughout the UK. I just did not have time this week just before Christmas to add these as originally intended when I wrote the above verse, but they are quite significant in light of that verse and the fact that this was two days before Christmas. It also shows the ongoing failure of tenant management to deal with this antisocial problem which persists as discussed more thoroughly two weeks from today on 6th January 2007.
The first four photos below show rubbish left by a front door opposite my flat overnight near a place shown in the second photo where vermin can hide under these push chairs during the day and come out to feed during the night nearby.
The third photo shows the bicycle chained to the rail that obstructs the emergency exit for all at this end of the building from here at this level and upstairs should there be a fire in the the front door area (see below). The last photo of these four shows this same plaid bag which has been there for months outside this flat presumably for rubbish but also providing a place for vermin to hide while it prevents the cleaners from cleaning as do the permanently parked push chairs and bicycle.
These next two photos show the rubbish stacked on the floor by the 3rd floor rubbish chute with the second photo showing the view looking from the front door up at this rubbish. It shows how the rubbish is hidden behind the chute itself to the right which is not readily noted when seen directly from in front of the rubbish chute.
The seven photos below show the second floor rubbish chute area by the front door with the first photo showing a view looking down from the 3rd floor rubbish chute area. The second photo shows some spillage from a large bag on the floor.
The third photo shows the open rubbish chute without its safety door and a small bag in front of it. Even small bags are not put down a wide open and spacious rubbish chute opening. Then there is a full view of the 2nd floor rubbish chute without its safety door in the fourth photo. This is low to the ground and within easy reach of a small child to climb in and fall to the road below where all the rubbish is contained. This might also be a convenient "rat run."
The safety door is in the opposite corner on the floor in the fifth photo. The sixth photo shows a significant amount of highly combustible cardboard stacked in the rubbish chute area behind its door.
Finally, the seventh photo shows a view looking in from the front door with a large spillage pool in the narrow entrance to the second floor. This spillage is next to the entrance to the rubbish chute area to the right.
