Labour peer urges Blair to quit

Gordon Brown and Tony Blair
Lord Hattersley says Gordon Brown should be the next Labour leader

Former Labour deputy leader Lord Hattersley has called on Tony Blair to quit as prime minister in September.

He said any tenure in Downing Street beyond this year's Labour conference would damage the party.

Last week left-wing backbencher John McDonnell, Hayes and Harlington MP, said he would run for the Labour leadership when Tony Blair stands down.

But Lord Hattersley said Chancellor Gordon Brown was the "ideal" candidate to take over the reins of the party.

Blair says no honours wrongdoing

Tony Blair

Tony Blair has said no-one in the Labour Party has sold honours in return for financial backing to his knowledge.

The PM told BBC One's The Politics Show there was nothing wrong with working peerages being given to party backers.

However, he said the perception that "cash-for-honours" allegations involved wrongdoing by Labour was a problem.

Mr Blair also said he had seen no evidence of ministerial misconduct by his deputy John Prescott, and that he would carry on as prime minister.

Former Labour deputy leader Lord Hattersley has called on Mr Blair to quit as prime minister in September.

"Nobody in the Labour Party to my knowledge has sold honours or sold peerages," Mr Blair said.

And now for more mundane issues at the local level reflecting a Labour Government policy of local control where those who get power abuse it for their own corrupt self interest just like those at the top. The ethos is image management rather than doing a proper job. This is called the trickle down effect for standards in government by elected officials and their crony sycophants.

The graph below from the last seven days of the temperature/humidity logger shows the base line for the temperature in my living room with the central heating on as I've described. It does not fall with the cooler temperatures at night. The lowest was about 32C on Tuesday/Wednesday at a time of higher humidity inside. From then on the temperature has gone up to about 35C and hovered at about 33C and 34C during the rest of the week. Today as the most recent heat wave was beginning to take effect, the temperature climbed this morning. Fortunately, the inside humidity has stayed relatively low after its highs at the beginning of the week.

A commentator earlier today on BBC News24 stated that since 1991 ten years have had record annual average temperatures. He was discussing global warming. Resource conservation (energy and water) are lost on tenant management who would rather build 38 business units for the glory of those few at the top rather than manage the some 900 residential units in the best overall interest of their occupants at the Lancaster West Estate. It has all been image management with a very intense effort directed against me to stop my reporting these problems for the past eight years by means of surveillance technology.

Now that the energy, water and global warming crises are upon us all, it emerges in dramatic fashion that tenant management has failed completely to deliver management on behalf of the residents. It's not as if these problems have been a secret. They have been reported extensively all these years, and I have personally addressed the need to provide water metering (199 and turn off the central heating during the summer (2003) as just a couple of these serious problems.

The recognition I received was to be wiped out completely by the use of surveillance technology as a weapon 24/7 for eight years with every effort made to destroy my reputation, my activity and me completely. You might call this a kind of backhanded compliment for those in positions of authority recognised the validity of the issues I raised and the need to squelch them for image management purposes.

Now the truth is coming out with an awesome devastating impact about what has really been going on with 9% of the 10,000 residential units managed by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea's Tenant Management Organisation, the Lancaster West Estate Management Board, the Lancster West Tenants and Residents Association and the Council itself for creating this catastrophe which deliberately destroys lives on behalf of image management so that the problems do not get reported. The few benefit at the expense of the many.
